Pathology cases — Nephrolithiasis

This is the kidney from an older woman who died of sepsis.  It is a classic renal stone that has gotten too large to pass and has caused obstruction.  Note the blunting of the papilla and thinning of the cortex wiht expansion of the pelvis. Nothing novel here, but it may be useful for lecture for someone.

    1. This was an older person who broke a hip and went down the pneumonia pathway. The stone was unsuspected.
